unexpected plaid

Plaid. Approach this trend with caution. It can go lumberjack real quick.

Make sure your “plaidwear” has an unexpected detail or cut like these tops: One with eyelet trim, one with a dainty collar and one that you’re accustomed to seeing as a solid. I’m crushing on plaid skirts, but not the school girl kind. In love with this Anna Sui and this one at ASOS.

The other option is to pair your plaid, again, with something unexpected. We’re in a transition season, a plaid shirt like this or this with denim shorts and sneaks, one hundred. This Faherty flannel shirt with a shorter skirt (suede or denim) and a tall boot (love these) would be another great look.

Keep jackets and outwear fresh like this bomber jacket and this capelet. You want to be more Ralph than Lands End.
