Finley's Cart: Swim 2021
If you’re like me, shopping for a swimsuit for a twelve-year-old girl sounds almost as fun as the mammogram I had earlier this week. It’s so hard. It just is. Their little bodies are all wonky in puberty and they don’t feel comfortable in their own skin and what will their friends be wearing? Are bikinis OK or will camp require a one piece? So many thoughts. So I turned it all over to Finley. I gave her sites and here’s what she’s found.
Submarine Swim. We discovered this line last summer. It runs slightly small so order a size up. It washes well, but make sure you hang dry. Finley loves this one and this one. I love the style of this one but not sure if she’ll go for the bottoms (Fin is a big fan of full coverage, enjoying that while I can). I wish this one came in my size. She has a one piece like this one. I hope it still fits.
Maaj. This line is a little tricky. Definitely order a size up and be careful with the tie closure styles. Finley has one with a tie closure that she rarely wears because the top rides up. So weird, but I think it’s the lack of boobs. She LOVES Maaj prints. LOVES them. She’s asking for this one and this one. I like this one. Maaj can be difficult to find. Check your local surf shop (Ocean Motion on SSI) and Zappos too.
Nordstrom. They have all kinds of swim. Nothing like shopping at Nordy. Free shipping and free returns make it a no brainer. Their house line Zella Girl has great swim. Last year it was one of Finley’s favorites. She’s going to try this cute tie-dye one. This Hobie and this Billabong got her approval. She got googley-eyed over this one, but all I see is bad tan lines. She’s agreed to try this one. I may sneak in this rashguard suit too. Love its retro vibe.
Mini Boden swim is wonderful, but I’m afraid Fin has turned that corner. I love their mix-n-match shorts and tops. Thinking I may have one more summer if I add a (discrete) monogram to the bottoms?
